Happy New Year! Let’s Make Some Confetti Poppers To Celebrate

Happy New Year! Let’s make some confetti poppers to celebrate! Below you’ll find our guide on some fun craft projects to help you commemorate the holiday and the passing of another year.

DIY Pool Noodle Garland

Do you want to add some fun texture and eye-popping color to your celebration? Everyone will fall head-over-heels when you hang up your homemade pool noodle garland. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Three pool noodles in different colors
  • String
  • X-Acto knife
  • Cutting mat

Begin cutting the noodles into half-inch slices with the blade of your X-Acto knife on top of your cutting mat. Keep alternating colors and cutting your pool noodles into segments until you’ve reached the desired length of each garland. Take your string and feed each of the noodle pieces through it.

To keep the noodles from falling off when hanging the garland, tie a piece of noodle to each end. You can easily tape these noodle ends to the respective surfaces when you’re suspending the garland from the ceiling or wall. If you feel that it’s a visual annoyance, fasten the garland with hooks.

Create Your Own Party Poppers

When we said, “Let’s make some confetti poppers to celebrate,” we weren’t kidding! You can easily make these party crackers at home and have everyone join in on the messy fun. Here’s what you need:

  • Pool noodle
  • Colorful duct tape (ideally with New Year’s designs on them)
  • Confetti (can be store-bought or homemade)
  • Balloons
  • Knife

This project is very straightforward. First, cut up a pool noodle into sections around four inches in length. Next, take as many balloons as you have pieces of noodle, then slice and discard their tops. Take the ends of each balloon and knot them together.

Once you finish tying them, wrap the open end of the balloon over one side of a pool noodle piece. Take your duct tape and cover the entire noodle lengthwise, eventually securing the balloon in place. Now you can have fun putting your confetti pieces into the open half of the pool noodle and “popping” them out by pulling on the balloon end and snapping it back.

Firework Display

You can bring this awesome firework display safely into your home. Here’s what you need:

  • One pool noodle for each firecracker set
  • Tape
  • Utility knife
  • Wide ribbon in a favorite color
  • Additional curling ribbon or another decorative accent
  • Colorful wire garland

First, measure and trim the pool noodle into 18-inch, 15-inch, and 13-inch sections, or play around with the measurements to your liking. It’s easier to cut a straight line around the pool noodle when you wrap the tape around it.

Tape the three pool noodle pieces together. You should then wrap your wide ribbon over the tape to disguise it. Then, wrap the curling ribbon or another decorative accent around the wide ribbon and secure it with tape.

Make loops with the wire garland and bundle them together at the bottom with more wire garland. Cut and twist the unbundled end into strands and insert them into the tip of the pool noodles pieces to resemble fireworks erupting from inside.
