PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Backer Rod is a closed-cell, resilient, polyethylene backer rod used as a backup material for construction joints and applications that?require sealants. It performs as a depth control for most known cold applied sealants. Sealants will not adhere to it; no bond breaker is required.
COMPOSITION AND MATERIALS
Backer Rod is a round, black, resilient, extruded closed cell polyethylene backer rod with a water-resistant outer skin. It is compatible with most known cold applied sealants such as urethane, silicone, acrylic, butyl, polysulfides, latex, and chinking sealants.

LIMITATIONS
Closed-Cell Foam Backer Rod should be installed with a roller or blunt, flat-sided tool. Please follow sealant manufacturer specifications for recommended sealant width and depth ratio. For best results, do not puncture, fold or overly stretch the product. The product is made with a water-resistant outer skin, therefore where moisture resistance is important, care should be taken not to puncture this outer surface skin.

I was unaware of how rigid these noodles would be. Was hoping for a bit more flexible service that could be compressed. Maybe the clue would be ‘closed’ vs ‘open’ cell construction?
Normally, a pool noodle is used for a pool! Right? Well, not this time! My daughter suggested I use this at the entrance to my walk in shower to keep water from going onto the floor. It worked beautifully! The color is great, too! I cut it in half, put alien tape on floor, then put the half noodle down. It worked great for a while until tape quit sticking.

I ordered this noodle to fill the gap behind my headboard/mattress/frame, so I would stop losing my cell phone, glasses, CAT. Noodle is much wider than I needed, but I used little saw to cut it down, worked perfectly. Now, I no longer need to reach back under there to retrieve lost items, or panic that I've lost my cat, who is intentionally ignoring me while hiding under platform frame, between storage drawers.
My headline might sound demeaning towards this product but it is meant in general. I haven’t found it any cheaper anywhere else and I needed this size. I tried using a pool noodle for my purposes but I could not ever find any of this size of diameter. I used it to put in between the wall and my refrigerator to keep my new kitten from going back there. It worked out perfect and she hasn’t used it as a scratching post yet. Maybe the chemical make up of it deters that. It doesn’t smell bad or anything and even if it did put off an aroma, it was very slight and dissipated very soon after positioning it.
